WILMER: HARNESSING THE SPIRIT OF TEXAS

The friendly city of Wilmer was built with pure determination and entrepreneurial spirit. Located 14 miles southeast of downtown Dallas, Wilmer was founded in 1849 by Andrew K. Gray. The community was put on the map in 1872 when the Houston and Texas Central Railroad established a stop in the city. By 1890 Wilmer was a thriving agricultural community growing cotton for the region.

Today, Wilmer is home to the Union-Pacific Intermodal Terminal, one of the largest intermodal facilities in America. The Union-Pacific Intermodal Terminal, located near the city of Hutchins, handles more than 300,000 lifts annually and averages more than 1,200 trucks daily.

Wilmer Welcomes New Business
Wilmer is a prime location in Texas to do business, not only because it is located within four miles of four Interstate highways, but also three airports that allow "just in time" delivery to every part of the contiguous United States within three hours.

Wilmer's pro-growth stance has made available an abundance of real estate ready for development in an area with Freeport Tax Exemption, tax abatement opportunities, and a developing enterprise zone.

A Quality Of Life Better Than Most
The quality of life in Wilmer cannot be beat. New residential and commercial developments are being planned and constructed in this quiet city nestled on the outskirts of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

The cordial nature of Wilmer citizens accepts new opportunities and new growth. The city welcomes newcomers with open arms and is ready to embrace new ideas and possibilities.
